By way of reminder, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has announced the dates for the RCPCH Annual Conference 2021.

The conference will take place online from the 15th-17th June 2021.

The theme will be’Challenges, opportunities and solutions for Child Health in the COVID-19 era.’

Please note that the deadline for abstract submissions is this Wednesday 10th March 2021!

PEM consultant post- North Middlesex University Hospital

North Middlesex University NHS trust are investing in its busy and successful paediatric service. They want to hear from innovative and passionate clinicians and want to work in a cohesive forward thinking team who are constantly striving to improve the care we deliver.

They have a post for a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine to join their team. The paediatric emergency department is one of the busiest in North London, seeing around 48,000 children per year. The department is open 24/7 and is staffed by dedicated paediatric nurses. They attend to children from the local area and beyond with acute paediatric care and are a trauma unit, as part of the North East London Trauma Network. They also have a co-located urgent treatment centre, staffed by General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners.

RCPCH- Training Advisor on the PEMISAC

Here is an opportunity to apply to become a Training Advisor on the PEMISAC (which is the Intercollegiate body formerly known as CSAC).

The RCPCH has a College Specialist Advisory Committee (CSAC) in Paediatric Emergency
Medicine which is responsible to the College for monitoring training and assessment within the
sub-specialty and advising the College on related issues. This CSAC has a Chair, 2 Training
Advisors, an Assessment Advisor, a Quality Advisor and a Trainee Representative, who form
the voting members of the CSAC.

It’s a great opportunity to be involved in shaping the PEM training program going forward, and ensuring trainees are afforded the very best chance to join, and shine, in the subspecialty.

Job description and person specification:
The applicant will ideally have an active role in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and be a
member of APEM.
The post holder will manage membership of APEM. Working closely with the treasurer, the
post holder will ensure all new members are activated once payment received and
undertake regular review of the association’s membership to ensure it is up to date.
The post holder will also monitor and answer contacts and queries from members and
external agencies submitted via email or the website contact form, liaising with the wider
executive committee as required.
The post holder will become a member of the APEM executive committee and will be
expected to attend meetings at least twice a year. At least one of these meetings will be
a business meeting held as part of the RCEM conference. The post holder will share an
update of membership at the Annual General Meeting. The post holder will work closely
with the Chair to arrange interim meetings for the executive committee as required. The
post holder will keep minutes of formal meetings of the executive committee and ensure
these are published on the APEM website. The post holder will coordinate the recruitment
of new members to the executive committee.

The applicant will ideally have an active role in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and be a

The post holder will be expected to liaise with the current website manager for the new
website and help manage any issues.
The post holder would need to ensure timely payments to the website up keep company –
from APEM funds.
The post holder will be expected to help keep documents and links on the website up to
date
The post holder will also be expected to coordinate mailing news and updates to members
The post holder will become a member of the APEM Executive committee and will be
expected to attend meetings at least twice a year. At least one of these meetings will be
a business meeting held as part of the RCEM conference. During this business meeting you
will be expected to give an update on the website.

APEM guideline rep
